Stress Management Techniques
Short periods of stress are normal and can often be resolved by something as simple as
completing a task which cuts down your workload or by talking to others and taking time
to relax. Here are some stress management techniques:
1. Find out the reason for the stress
Work out what it is that’s making you feel stressed. For example, is it exams, peer
pressure, or family problems? See if you can change your circumstances to ease the
pressure you’re under. If not, accept the situation and go ahead with courage.
2. Have a healthy lifestyle
Try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eat well, get enough sleep, be physically active,
spend time with family and friends, do your hobbies, and take time to relax as well as
study.
3. Don’t worry about the future
Try not to worry about the future. But work hard in order to accomplish your future
dreams and goals.
4. Do not compare
Never compare yourself with others. Each person is unique. When you are comparing
your marks with your friend’s you become more stressful. Instead try to work hard
to get good results.
5. Practice breathing exercises
Whenever you feel too much stress and tiredness, try breathing exercises. It will
freshen you up and help relieve stress.
6. Have a proper timetable
You have to prepare a timetable for yourself, so you will be responsible for it. It
should include not only studies, but also time for physical activities such as sports
and games, mental relaxation such as reading books, watching television, watching
good movies once in a while, and talking with family and friends.
7. Open up yourself
If you are going through a lot of stress, try sharing it with your parents, teachers, or
your best friend who can guide you. Sharing it openly will make you more comfortable,
and they will help you overcome the stressful situation.
