Tinku saw his kite sailing up and up into the air. He ran hoping that it would come

down. But it flew higher into the sky. He was very sad. He had lost his beautiful yellow
          kite. He went home crying.

But the kite didn’t care. It said proudly, “I am now free to go where I wish. I shall fly high

and touch the sky.” The kite was delighted that it did not belong to anyone. Suddenly
the wind stopped blowing and the kite stopped flying. It came down, down down to

the earth and dived straight into a small pond. The kite was cold and wet. “Oh!” said
the kite, “I am sinking.” It wanted to fly. Now, it wished that Tinku would come and

save it. But Tinku was nowhere around!

A little dog came by and saw the kite in the pond and brought it out. The dog scratched
the kite with his paws and left it on the bank. The kite lay there with two big holes in it.

Soon the sun and the wind dried the kite. Then there was a sudden gust of wind. The
wind lifted the kite off and it went with its tail behind it. The kite was very excited. It
was in the sky again. “I shall not go down again. I shall go up till I reach the moon. And

I will stay up there,” it said.
