why he was upset. When Raghav told her, Priyanshi explained to him

that it is just a difference of opinion. He should not feel so upset
because their parents only want them to be safe. Instead, he
should understand their concern and reassure them that he
will be careful and stay in touch with them throughout

the evening. This would comfort them and they might
allow Raghav to go.

Raghav went into his parents’
room. He tried explaining his

point of view, and unlike what he
had thought, his parents listened
patiently to him. They finally

seemed to understand his point
of view and agreed to send him
for the party, but on certain
conditions. Their conditions

were that firstly, Raghav needs
to share his location with them; secondly, he needs to give them Harshit’s parents’ numbers
as well as Harshit’s number; thirdly, he must promise not to engage in any unhealthy,

risky, or inappropriate behaviour. Raghav immediately agreed to their conditions and he
promised that he would be back on time.

Raghav later went for the party and really enjoyed himself while adhering to all the

conditions set by his parents. In this story, as in life, respectful and effective communication
and a willingness and openness to understand each other’s views had made all the difference.
