The term ‘generation gap’ was first used in the 1960s. During that time, the younger
generation, commonly known as ‘baby boomers’, showed a significant difference in their
beliefs and opinions, compared to that of their parents’ generation.
Generation gap happens because each generation grows up with different experiences,
technologies, and ways of thinking. Understanding and talking to each other is important
to bridge this gap.
Story Corner
Raghav is a 14-years-old teenager. His friends were planning a Christmas party at a classmate,
Harshit’s place. When Raghav asked his parents
whether he could attend the party, his parents
firmly refused. They said that parties go on till
late in the night and it is not safe for him to
be out so late. Raghav said that he could
stay overnight at Harshit’s place, but his
parents said a firm no to that as well
because they were not comfortable
with him staying out overnight.
Raghav had an argument with his
parents because they were not
listening to him and they refused
to be convinced.
Raghav was quite upset with his
parents. His older sister Priyanshi
saw him slam the door of his room.
She understood that he might
need her help. She went into
Raghav’s room and asked him
