Dear children, sometimes we feel that we can progress quickly and reach newer
heights in life if we are not tied down by our parents and teachers. But we fail to

realise that our parents, teachers, and loved ones help us survive tough times in life
with their support and encouragement. Our loved ones are not holding us down,

instead supporting us. And we should never let go of them. Let us read the story ‘A
          Kite Without a Thread’.

Once there was a kite-flying festival in a village. Noel and his father went to see the
festival. Noel became very happy seeing the sky filled with colourful kites. He asked

his father to get him a kite and a thread with a roller so he too could fly a kite. So
his father went to a shop in the park where the festival was being held. He purchased

kites and a roll of thread for his son.

Noel started flying the kite. Soon, his kite
reached high up in the sky. After a while,

he said, “Father, it seems that the thread is
stopping the kite from flying higher. If we

break it, it will be free and will go flying even

higher. Can we break it?” So his father cut
the thread from the roller. As the kite started
to go a little higher, Noel felt very happy.

But then slowly, the kite started to come
down. It spiralled and fell on the terrace of an
unknown building. Noel was surprised to see
this. He had cut the kite loose from its thread

so it could fly higher. Instead, it fell down.
He asked his father, “Father, I thought that after

                                                                                                               25
