Now, read the following sentences.

2. All the photos were taken by Shanta.
In the first sentence, the subject (Shanta) does the action (takes the photos).

In the second sentence, the subject is no longer active. Instead, it is being acted upon and so it
is in passive voice.

State whether the following sentences are in active or passive voice.

1. Manoj lost his mobile yesterday. __________

2. The fire destroyed the house. __________

3. Mariam was scolded by her mother for being out late. __________
4. The building was destroyed by the fire. __________
