                    Active and Passive Voice

                    Read these sentences.

                    1.  Vikram is reading the book.

                    2.  The book is being read by Vikram.
                        The two sentences are saying the same thing, but each is being said in different  “voice”.

                        Voice is the form of a verb that shows whether the subject of a sentence does the action or

                       is affected by it.
                   •  If the subject does the action (Vikram is reading the book), it is said to be in active voice.

                   •  If the subject is affected by the action (the book is being read by Vikram.), it is said to be in
                       passive voice.
