Let’s Speak
Work in groups. Enact a play with your friend showing the role of Miss Sullivan educating Helen
and making her independent. One student from each group should act as Miss Sullivan and tell
the rest of the group how she tackled Helen. The following points may be kept in mind while
preparing for the play.
• The way Miss Sullivan was appointed to teach Helen.
• Her early experiences with Helen.
• Her determination to stick to the job despite Helen’s naughty tricks.
• Empathy as reason for Miss Sullivan’s determination to stick to the job.
• Gradual progress made by Helen, her success, and Miss Sullivan’s joy.
Let’s Write
