III. Metaphor
The hills untied their bonnets.
This sentence is an example of metaphor where the hills becoming visible in the light of the
morning sun are compared to a face that becomes visible when the bonnet is untied.
In a metaphor, the comparison is not stated; it is implied. It does not use the words ‘as’ or ‘like’.
Read the sentences given below. Each of them has a metaphor. Underline the metaphor in
