Pronouns (Subject Pronouns and Object Pronouns)

The words which are used in place of nouns are called pronouns.

 The pronouns used as a subject in a sentence are called subject pronouns.
I, you, he, she, it, we, and they are subject pronouns.

For examples:
I wrote a letter.

They will play in the garden.

‘I’ and ‘They’ are pronouns. As they stand in place of subjects, they are known as subject
pronouns.

 The pronouns used as objects in sentences are called object pronouns.
Me, you, him, her, it, us, and them are object pronouns.

For examples:
I could not defeat him.

Everybody likes her.
‘Him’ and ‘her’ are pronouns. As they have taken the place of objects, they are called
object pronouns.

Now, underline the pronouns in the sentences given below and write whether they
are subject pronouns or object pronouns.
