Title Bar
The Title bar, present at the top of the Word window, displays the name of the
current document. It also contains the Control buttons to minimize , maximize ,
and close the Word window.
Quick Access Toolbar
The Quick Access Toolbar, present on the left corner of the Title Bar, contains buttons for
commonly used commands. By default, Save, Undo, and Redo buttons are present on it.
Ribbon
The Ribbon, present below the Title bar, provides various commands for working with
documents. It is divided into various Tabs and Groups.
Tabs
Group Dialog Box Launcher
The various tabs present on the Word 2016 Ribbon are – Home, Insert, Design, Layout,
References, Mailings, Review, View, and Help.
Knowledge Discovery Subject Enrichment
Some Tabs appear on the Ribbon when you click a particular item in the document, such as
a table or a picture. They provide commands to work with the selected object.
File Tab
The File tab is present below the Quick Access
Toolbar. When clicked, the File tab opens the
Backstage view. It displays information about
the current document and provides commands
for various file activities. It also allows you to
change various settings in Word.
Backstage
Work Area
The Work Area or Document window, present below the Ribbon, displays the content
of the current document. You type text and insert objects in a document in the Work
Area.
