CD/DVD/BD
CD stands for Compact Disc. It is a circular
disk on which data is written using optical
technology. Its storage capacity is usually
upto 700 MB. It is commonly used to Compact disc (CD) DVD Blu-ray disc (BD)
store documents and files.
DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc. It can store upto 8.4 GB of digital data. DVDs are
usually used to store movies and videos.
BD stands for Blu-ray Disc. It is used to store high-definition movies and videos. The
storage capacity of a BD is usually between 25 GB to 50 GB.
Pen Drive
A Pen drive, also called a USB Flash drive, is a portable storage device.
It is used to easily transfer audio, video, and data files from one
computer to another. They come in different shapes and capacities.
The storage capacity of a pen drive is from 4 GB upto 1 TB. Pen Drive
SOFTWARE
Software is a set of instructions or programs used to operate hardware and help
users execute specific tasks. Unlike hardware, software cannot be seen or touched. A
computer cannot perform any of its tasks properly without software.
Software is generally divided into two categories:
1. System Software 2. Application Software
System Software
System software controls the overall functioning of a computer and manages all its
components. It is a set of programs designed to coordinate all hardware devices. System
software is further divided into the following categories:
• Operating system: Operating system
controls the overall operations of
the computer. It is the first software
installed on the computer. Windows
10, Mac OS, UNIX, and Linux are Linux Mac OS Windows 10
examples of operating systems.
• Utility software: System software which helps keep
the computer system in good working condition and
increases its efficiency is called Utility software. Antivirus
Antivirus Compression software, defragmentation software, and compression
software software software are examples of Utility software.
