                Had to / Will have to

                We use had to for the past and will have to for the future of have to (and must). Had to and will
                have to are not modal verbs.


                Examples : John had to learn French.

                            He did not have to learn Russian.

                            Sara wants to be a doctor. She will have to study hard.

                            Bob has got a new car, so he will not have to go to work by bus.


            A.  Complete the sentences with ‘had to/did not have to’ + one of these verbs.

                1.  He was late to school. He _____________ a rickshaw.

                2.  She had to attempt six out of ten questions. She _____________ all the questions.

                3.  I went to the market yesterday. I _____________ some food.

                4.  The officer was at seat. We _____________ for a long time.

                5.  There were no vehicles. They _____________ home last night.


            B.  Make questions with ‘Did ... have to ...?’ One has been done for you.

                1.  The children/walk home.
