Past Continuous Tense

Past Continuous Tense refers to actions that were happening at a particular time in the past.

For example: I was reading a book written by Mark Twain yesterday.
Formation of Past Continuous Tense — sub + was/were + verb + ing + object

Read this sentence.
Mother was cooking food in the kitchen.

Mother (subject) + was (auxiliary verb) + cook (verb) + ing + food in the kitchen (object)
